Cost and Practicalities
I offer both short and long-term counselling. In the case of long-term counselling we will have regular review sessions to make sure the counselling is still helpful.
Sessions will last 50 minutes. The cost is £60 per session. I hold a small number of places for concessionary rates, so, please ask if cost is an issue.
Fees are payable by online banking on the day. It is also possible to block book sessions and I can provide invoices upon request.
The sessions will take place online or at The Practice Rooms in Southville, Bristol.
Please note that the full fee is payable if a session is missed without 48 hours notice.

You might feel like you’ve exhausted all other options, nothing is helping, and you feel stuck, confused, or distressed by life events. Therapy can be a space to make sense of this and find a way forward. You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. Counselling might be right for you if you’re curious about yourself, want support with something difficult, or feel like you don’t want to keep carrying things on your own.

Research tells us that the most important factor in good therapy is the relationship between the counsellor and client. Finding the right fit is key. You might read about someone’s approach or experience, but what matters most is whether you feel safe, understood, and comfortable enough to be yourself with them. Sometimes this process can take time, but it’s important to trust your instincts. I offer a free initial phone call before we meet so you can get a sense of what it might be like to work with me before you commit.

Sessions last 50 minutes, and we will usually start by meeting weekly. This helps us build our relationship and create some momentum in the work. Some clients choose to move to bi-weekly sessions when they start to feel better, or even monthly sessions if we are working towards an ending. If you need some flexibility around how often we meet, we can discuss this during our initial call.

This is probably the hardest question to answer, as it varies so much from person to person. Some clients have a specific, well-defined issue they need support with, such as a recent break-up or work-related stress. In these instances, you may see significant improvement with short-term counselling (6–12 sessions). However, more deep-seated problems, such as chronic mental health issues, trauma, or understanding relationship patterns, may take longer. It really depends on the complexity of your difficulties and what your goals for therapy are. In the case of long-term therapy, I offer regular check-ins so we can decide together whether you’re ready to end therapy or if you need more time.

Everything shared in our therapy sessions is confidential, and I won’t disclose your identity unless I am legally required to do so. The exceptions to this are if there are grounds to believe that you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. However, I will always make every attempt to discuss breaking confidentiality with you beforehand.
